What is the average travel and vacation expense for an American family per year?

August 18th, 2009

staliman93 asked:

How much does an average American family spend on travel and vacation in the span of one year?

Including things like, visiting family, vacations, travel expenses, air fare, food, touring, and lodging?
Listing the average expense for your family would be appreciated too.

My step daughter.help,help, help?

August 17th, 2009

Vainilla V asked:

My step daughter is 27 she come to our home only when we are going to have a dinner out, she needs money for gas, money for tuition, money for books etc. She is not working, she is so slow that the only a job in a department store will fits. She works as a teacher assistant but make like 400 a month. But she don’t find any. Took me 3 years to convince her to fill an application for a health insurance for people that make less than 400 box. Now our vacation is coming and she wants to jump in. Hello! Why I have to carry with her on my vacations?
I call my husband and tell him if this is a trip to see your granny you guys can go. Me and my daughter will go to another place. My daughter is just nine. When she go to sleep we can stay in the room and watch a TV or have a drink. With an adult I don’t think so.

How do I invite one of my nephews to come on vacation with my family but not his sibling?

August 16th, 2009

swtdare asked:

I am going on vacation in 3 wks with my 2 boys and husband. I would love to invite 1 nephew to go with us. We really only have room for 1 more but we’ve taken this same child on vacation before (which just happened. it wasn’t planned). I have an issue with taking his brother this time instead because it is very obvious that he has a hyperactivity issue that his parents will not address because they don’t want him put on medication. He recently turned 8 and he uses foul language, is very defiant with adults, and can become aggressive. I love him very much and think his parents are doing him an injustice but I don’t want to spend my vacation a basket case. How can I invite one child but not the other? Should I even attempt it? My husband would never come out and tell his brother that we don’t want to take him because he’s too much trouble. And thinks we would be overstepping our boundaries. They have never taken family vacations and we feel that the other child is forgotten sometimes.

Family vacation, sick cousins, how would you have felt?

August 9th, 2009

Mommy of 2 asked:

We took a family vacation with my in-laws. There were8 adults and 6 kids, the kids were all ages 3 and under. The day before we left, one set of kids ages 1 and 2 yrs old started getting sick, cough and runny noses. The mom thought maybe it was just ‘allergies’ even though she didn’t tell anyone she also had a stuffy nose and sore throat. Well, the next day she thought they were fine, but we get there, they were somewhat sick but acting fine. Anyway, we are home now and she said they are all going to the doctor tomorrow. Well, as we know with little ones, they did share cookies and what not so now I’m watching my little ones (ages 3 and 1) and waiting to see if they get sick too. Would this bother you, since she knew they were starting to get sick or would you just say well everyone gets sick from time to time. Usually things like this really bother me, but we did go to Great Wolf Lodge and I figure there are so many germs in that place and a ton of kids running around that they were exposed to so many things there anyway, why complain if they catch a bug. What do you think?
