Destinations for children friendly holidays?

November 15th, 2009

Nicady asked:

Am looking for ideas for a Xmas holiday that the kids will love. We live on the Gold Coast in QLD and would ideally like to drive either north or south for no more than 5 hours and want to be near the beach. Have found a couple of Caravan Parks that offer self-contained cabin accommodation with fantastic facilities for children – ie kids clubs, playgrounds, jumping pillows, holiday programs etc – so this is ideally what we would like but would love some recommendations/advice.

thanks in advance.

If your spouse has bad holiday memories from childhood, how can you get them excited about holidays with you?

November 15th, 2009

snowandsun asked:

My hubby has a dysfunctional family of origin and holidays were always awkward and uncomfy for all. Plus, his mom was always bossing everyone around during the holidays, so he kind of takes a back seat to plans and events, and his idea of a holiday is plopping himself in front of the tv.

I love celebrating the holidays and would like my family to have fun xmas traditions and celebrations. I can’t figure out how to get my hubby to join in. I’ve asked him what he’d like to do for the holidays, or if there are any traditions he’d like to implement, and he just shrugs his shoulders and says he can’t think of anything.
I’m thinking it’s because he associates holiday celebrations as something to avoid. How can I encourage him to get involved in the holiday cheer?

One week abroad alone. any ideas?

November 15th, 2009

ML asked:

I’ve had quite a tough year *sob* but my boss has just told me I have a weeks holiday to take before xmas.

I was thinking about maybe travelling alone – a bit of time to chill out and reflect on everything.

It’s only for a week but can anyone give me any ideas of what I could do/where I could go etc.? I really wanted to do a community project with orphans or something – you know, a bit of life experience even if it is just for a week – but eveywhere I look seems to require me to be there longer than a week. They also seem quite pricey. :(

It doesn’t have to be voluntary work. I’m scared to backpack alone as I’m a girl, and a pathetic one at that. Also, last time I was on holiday (in July) I had a nasty experience.

Any ideas are really appreciated.

I need an xmas gift idea for my niece?

November 14th, 2009

tri1104 asked:

Hey! My niece is 2 1/2 years old, and she is obsessed with kitty cats. I always get her a book of sort for holidays, and will continue to do that this year. However, I also wanted to get something else cat related – ie – a coloring book, age appropriate game, etc… I just don’t want to send a stuffed animal, as she has a million. Anyway – anybody have any kitty related gift ideas – a game perhaps? Thanks! :-)
