Tricia asked: My company is choosing to close the company the day after Thanksgiving. They are telling the employees that we either have to use a vacation day, come in on a Saturday for 8 hours or not to get paid. Is that legal? Some employees either do not have any vacation time or have a weekend job. Whatever the reason, I believe that is wrong. Not my choice not to work on the Friday.
No need for the sarcastic answer. I am a salary employer so would you not question that especially when being hired the policy was that the company was opened the day after. They just told us today. Maybe the question should have been dont you think it is f***ed up the company is doing this.
No problem for me because I more than make up the hours. It is more the people who do have concerns. No matter even if you are salary or hourly they are requiring you to either work a Sat. (some people cant) use a vacation day (some people have already used it up) or not get paid even if you are salary. thanks to all for your answers.

Leading_Edge04 asked: My family are planning a trip to visit the family over in Europe for about a week during the xmas holiday. I am a full time college student and will have vacation then (be between semesters) but I have an on-going search for a job. We kinda need to book the tickets fairly soon but would a trip ruin my chances at getting a job? I am sure this has happened before, what have you done, what should I do? Just get the tickets and tell them right off in the interview?
Thanks!

Ben C asked: I want to do Law at Uni but I don’t want to be stuck in the U.K. Can I get a job that still pays well but still lets me indulge in my love of sun and international travel. I love to explore the more exotic and obscure corners of the globe as well as sunnier spots like the USA and Australia. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
I wasn’t really thinking concern and money isn;t that big a deal – what could I do? Work for a charity, tourism, the UN, diplomat etc. Any more suggestions?
