jackbellows2003 asked: I’m going to be traveling to Europe in a couple weeks, and I’m trying to get cell phone service while I’m there. I’ve got my hands on an unlocked GSM phone, but I’m curious how I go about purchasing a SIM card for use in international travel. I know that you can buy SIM cards for one country at a time, but can you buy a SIM card that will work in multiple countries? Are there any companies in the US that sell these SIM cards so that I could buy one before I travel? Thanks!

joseph_diorio asked: I have to travel to the U.K. early next month. I use Verizon and have a Razr cell phone, but am told it won’t allow me to call home when I am in the U.K. What are my options? Should I upgrade to a Blackberry … simply buy a temporary phone with a prepaid number of minutes? Not sure what my options are here, so any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Lisa N asked: We live in the U.S. and have a family plan (three phones on our service). We need about 800 minutes per month (U.S.); but travel internationally several times per year and would like a phone that works internationally.
We have friends that we visit overseas and some occasions to work overseas. For example, over Christmas we were lost in Germany trying to find out friend’s home. It would have been worth a lot to have been able to call them from our car for a few minutes and get directions…so, the cost of the international roaming isn’t the biggest concern. We wouldn’t be using it that often; but when we needed it, we would want it to be reliable. We travel worldwide – so a plan with the most coverage (Europe, Asia) would be best.
We also want a reasonable rate on our family plan, since this is really what we use the most. Thoughts?
