What do you do during spring break when you’re stuck in the dorms :( ?

May 17th, 2011

konata asked:

So i didn’t fly home, or go on vacation for spring break. I’m planning a trip in japan in may, and i have to fly one weekend in april to go to a wedding or my parents will disown me. That saying i didn’t have any cash to go anywhere special. plus i **** the ordeal of flying.
any way i just transferred from com. college to a college in a “quaint” sub-rural (is that a term?) college in colorado. My first time living in the dorms and i’m wondering what other students do when they are stuck at college over the break. Its a dry campus meaning no alcohol is allowed which means no fun dorm parties, but now that the RA’s are out of town does that change. I have yet to look at the events page on the college’s website so i don’t know whats going on this coming week.
Does anyone have any idea of what college kids stuck in the dorms do during the break?
excuse the sucky grammar
and its effing snowing outside

Can I go to college in Florida if?

November 24th, 2010

BABYGURL101 asked:

Ok, so last year I went to Florida for Thanksgiving vacation and I totally feel in love with the state. It’s so beautiful and clean! I was wondering, snce I live In Pennsylvania, if it’s possible if I can go to college in Florida? Do you have to be a resident, or lived their for a period of time or what?

A good amount of information will help.

Thanks in advance!

I can’t go home for Thanksgiving break, is it possible to stay at my dorm without getting caught?

October 26th, 2010

Tina Y asked:

I live in Boston and I can’t go home for Thanksgiving break. I have nobody who can take me in or any money to stay at a hotel. My dorm is a 9 story building, with my room on the top floor. I was wondering if I would likely get caught if I used anything during break, such as water, electricity or the internet. Usually, the rules for vacation break is to leave the heat on and the fridge plugged in, but nothing else.

Also, I plan on buying some canned food and surviving on that for four days until break is over. Any ideas?
And I definitely do need to leave for break. I go to a private school (Boston U) and the deadline for getting vacation housing (which I have to pay for, but can be charged to my student account) has passed.
Also, if you think I can get caught, would you mind elaborating HOW I could get caught? The dorm is very large (it used to be a hotel) and I don’t intend on leaving it the entire break.

Answer this question and get 4 points?

April 5th, 2010

Krystal asked:

Well right now I’m a sophomore in high school. I want to go to the University of Florida. The thing is I live in New Jersey. My mother and I are planning on buying a house down there during my Senior Easter vacation, which is in March or April.

When filling out my application form and Financial Aid, would I be considered a Florida resident or non-Florida resident? I’m going to fill out the application form my Junior year. What should I do?

besides the planned school holidays, are college students able to take a vacation?

November 4th, 2009

USNA13 asked:

This is sort of confusing, so allow me to elaborate. Can college students leave the campus and classes behind to take a vacation? Lets say the student’s family is going on a trip for a week and the student wants to tag along, but it is not xmas, spring, or any other school break. Are they allowed? Who do they need to tell they are leaving?

Any experiences leaving a college campus for a family vacation during the school semester would be great. thanks!

Does international travel look good on a college application?

June 12th, 2009

djman45 asked:

So basically I am aiming for a top college like Stanford? I have been traveling to foreign countries since the summer after 6th grade. So far I have been to Costa Rica twice and Italy once. I am planning on going to New Zealand this summer and then to England to study at Oxford next summer or the summer after that.

Im very interested in international affairs and might pursue that field in college.

So given what I have done and what I plan to do, will colleges be impressed?
