Computer problem?I have this Toshiba laptop that has been giving me some problems?

Sometimes it works okay and sometimes all of a sudden, it turns off. When I power it up again, it works awhile then it shuts off again.

Then, when I power it up again, it gives me the message “Missing operating system”.

I put the drive in an enclosure and connected it to my other laptop and I can see the contents of the drive, but, does that mean that the drive is bad or does it mean that I might need a new battery?
