JenniStern asked:
I want to make a Turducken for our winter holiday dinner. Where is the best place to buy one online? I have a few weeks to plan in advance for the meal and want to get one that is tasty with a lot of meat. I don’t know how well cajun seasoning will go over… but think the dish would be a hit on the table. Thanks for any advice!

Beerstashgirl asked: I am in a contest with my husband and his friends of brewing a holiday/winter beer. They all have either home or professional brewing experience. I only have 3 home brew batches of experience, an IPA, Brown Ale, and Porter. I however, have read about and watched many brews being made. I must win. This is a battle of the underdog Vs the Tyrants. They are always joking and making little of my efforts. When I speak-up in my defense (not complaining) they do that macho crap, “we are just kidding.” But there is always a degree of true in ones teasing of another.
I need a great beer. It can be of the styles I have brewed but in some way a holiday themed beer. What shall I do? Please Help?
Yes and thank you, but I have already surfed the web for recipes. What I should say is something unique or even unsual. But not stupid like that college student’s beer. Crazy.
Would peppermint IPA be too wild? Using, say the candy.
Thanks people but I am looking for more ideas, uniqueness.

ParDon asked: My boyfriend and I will be going to London for a week during the winter holiday. We’ll be celebrating NYE there and we’re staying in Notting Hill neighborhood, next to Portobello Market. Any recommendations for romantic eating spots throughout the week around London and especially for NYE. We’re looking for off-beaten ideas and nothing too over the top.

Laina asked: 2000 or laterish would be preferred. It’s for my book review blog. I’m going to be doing a theme month for December and I only have a short list so far. I want lots of option in case I don’t like some of them, and I don’t want to use any I’ve already read.
Here’s what I come up with:
From my to-read list:
(Non-YA)
Christmas Wishes by Debbie Macomber
When Christmas Comes -//-
Snowbound by Lindsay McKenna, Cara Summers & Laura Marie Altom
Once Upon a Christmas by Lisa Plumley
(YA)
The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Catherine Hapka
Kissing Snowflakes by Abby Sher
Ex-Mas by Kate Brian
Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle
From Online:
Mistletoe: Four Holiday Stories by Hailey Abbott, Melissa de la Cruz, Aimee Friedman, and Nina Malkin
My Brother’s Hero by Adrian Fogelin
The Tricksters by Margaret Mahy
Jingle Boy by Keiran Scott
The Christmas Killer by Patricia Windsor
Dream Soul by Laurence Yep
Any recommendations?

Nobody Girl asked:
If you are still using them – Why? What are you doing to lower your carbon footprint? I’m only interested in people who believe that humans can effect climate change – If you don’t believe in it then you obviously are not doing anything.
So Eva – you don’t believe the Al Gore and Tom Brokaw hype that we can all make a difference by lowering our carbon footprint? They say that even turning your power strips off (even when all appliances are already off) helps. If they think that helps than Christmas lights and fireplaces would make a huge difference. Obviously not one person doing it, but if everyone who believed in it did that would make a difference
Helmut – why are you so hostile? Carbon footprint is a Brokaw and Gore buzz word – it’s not mine. I’m sure you have heard of abbreviating things – it’s not that hard to figure out. I don’t care if you don’t believe in it and are not doing anything about it anymore than I care if people who don’t believe in Jesus don’t prey to him. There would be no point. I’m only interested in people who believe in it and want to know what they are doing. Doesn’t seem to be too many believers around these parts.

Mike P asked: I’ve noticed at schools here that many of the students of Mexican heritage tend to be “still in Mexico” or “gone” from school for periods ranging from days to weeks after school vacations like Spring Break or Winter Break. (and sometimes the weeks leading into a holiday).
When I went to school it would be unthinkable to miss more than a day or two of school for non-essential matters.
Is this common everywhere in the US or is it just a Nevada thing?
Is it cultural to be more fluid with holiday time etc?
