Marva R asked: My husband and I have been married for almost two years. He has two children ages 11 and 8 from a previous marriage. Last year we all had dinner with his parents, who began discussing plans for a vacation. They wanted to pay for the majority of expenses, which I realize is very generous of them. I told them I could get off for the week of the Fourth of July. They wanted to visit some amusement park in Florida, and were unable to find accommodations for this week. They still continued to make plans for the next week after that. I have a relatively new job, and I can not get off for this week. I told them this, but they have kept on with their plans. So my husband and his children are leaving me behind today to go on this vacation. I wonder if I should be happy that he is getting to spend time with his kids and family. But instead I feel so hurt and abandoned like I’m just not that important. I feel his family is starting a relationship with me out on the wrong foot, because in a sense they are telling me by their actions that I’m not really an important part of their family. I can get off for two weeks at Christmas and Thanksgiving. I really wish they would have at least asked when I could get off just to show they care a little. And for my husband to be so happy about leaving for a family vacation without his new wife is beyond me. I realize married couples should have their times apart such as spending time with friends and family, but I always thought a family vacation should also include your wife. I might be wrong however, and I really want to view this in the right way. Thanks for any help you can give me

Oh yes, also my husband knows just how bad I wanted and needed to go on a vacation anywhere, and I feel I’m being punished in a way by not being able to have fun with everyone else.

Okay when I say cost effective, I mean it is the vacation where you get the most bang for your buck for the most fun. Maybe because its all inclusive or because the food is really cheap. Where can I go exotic and beautiful but not kill my pocket. The best cost to fun ratio! PLEASE INCLUDE GENERAL COSTS AND # OF DAYS. As many specifics as you can spare.

Alyssa asked: I know it’s a little corny, so give me ideas!
It’s our first Christmas spent as one,
A married couple, destined for fun,
Celebrating Jesus’ birthday together this year,
Is making it just all the more dear,
Hoping your holidays are cheery and bright,
Full of presents and family delight,
Looking forward now to 2010,
And cherishing our moments until then.

Hi. My boyfriend and I are celebrating an early christmas at my new apartment before we each head to our separate homes for the holidays. We are both 23. We are exchanging gifts, etc, but I was wondering if anyone had any great ideas for a fun/festive/at home/reasonably priced activity? I was thinking something along the lines of xmas cookies…but wanted other ideas? Please nothing crude.
thanks for everything so far, merry xmas!! still looking for some more great ideas!

asdf asked: My husband and I are obsessed with traveling. We usually take 6 or 7 vacations a year – which makes bargain hunting a must for most of them… anyhow, we want to go somewhere in Dec for my bday. Wheres a fun/affordable place to go. I’ve read that rates before xmas are lower for a lot of places…
Thanks!!

I am torn over our next family vacation. We are a family of 3 adults and 3 teenagers from Seattle. We would love to do a cruise and see the Western Carribean ( Mexico, Belize, Grand Cayman Island) but at the same time have never been to Hawaii. What is the best bang for our buck and/or fun for the explorer type vacation?

I am having some neighbor ladies over for fun and fellowship. Just wondering if ya’ll have any great ideas of things to do while they are here i.e. knitting/crochet, unfinished Christmas cards, etc….
Thanks!
