Wasn’t McCain the Senator of Arizona when they refused to recognize MLK as a holiday?

I believe that McCain was the Senator at the time when Arizona refused to recognize Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday as a National holiday.
In fact, they lost their 1st bid at a Super Bowl (later awarded AFTER they recognized MLK as a holiday) because of it.

Yet, people in here call Obama “racist”?
Hmmmm.

Thoughts?
Regarding “white” holidays: Every other holiday is a “white” holiday. Recognizing MLK’s contribution to America for ONE day shouldn’t be an issue.

Since tomorrow is a national holiday, are schools allowed to be in session?

I am unsure if my school is in session or not tomorrow. I go to a public school and we had off Thursday and Friday because of weather which gave me no time to find out. Are schools allowed to be in session on national holidays or not?
