I’ll ask this question again at the end of August.

snowandsun asked:
So, how do you go about this? For example, my mother in law freaks out if we don’t spend xmas with them. However, I’d like to start our own xmas traditions. We tried one year and she had a fit and didn’t speak to us for the entire new year until xmastime again. I don’t want to anger people but I don’t want to get in a rut where I’m not doing what I want all the time – you know?
Is there a good way to go about esablishing new traditions without stepping on the toes of those that already have existing traditions?
I should add that the in laws live several states away, so if we spend xmas with them, we don’t see anyone else at that time. It’s kind of all or nothing.
I should also add that my MIL is super scary! LOL…
The year we didn’t show up for xmas at the in-laws was the year my dad passed away, I tried explaining to her that I wanted to be with my mom on her first xmas alone, and MIL was outraged and said I was ‘tearing her family apart’. So I know she won’t be understanding for other reasons. I guess I’m just going to have to let her freak out. I’m not not sure what’s fair with her. She wants everything her way, and my vision is clouded because of that. I don’t know which of her requests are unreasonable – they seem all unreasonable at this point, even though that might not be true, if that makes any sense at all…

Tricia asked: My company is choosing to close the company the day after Thanksgiving. They are telling the employees that we either have to use a vacation day, come in on a Saturday for 8 hours or not to get paid. Is that legal? Some employees either do not have any vacation time or have a weekend job. Whatever the reason, I believe that is wrong. Not my choice not to work on the Friday.
No need for the sarcastic answer. I am a salary employer so would you not question that especially when being hired the policy was that the company was opened the day after. They just told us today. Maybe the question should have been dont you think it is f***ed up the company is doing this.
No problem for me because I more than make up the hours. It is more the people who do have concerns. No matter even if you are salary or hourly they are requiring you to either work a Sat. (some people cant) use a vacation day (some people have already used it up) or not get paid even if you are salary. thanks to all for your answers.

Otowns finest asked: I don’t mean taking vacations but in your home town going to the clubs in such. Would people not take a night to party or will there be a substantial drop-off to people coming to the club ? I mean clubbing cost women maybe $5 and guys $10. I don’t wanna plan going out with my buddies and the club is half full, ya know. ( By the way I live in orlando)
What do y’all think ?

Nobody Girl asked:
If you are still using them – Why? What are you doing to lower your carbon footprint? I’m only interested in people who believe that humans can effect climate change – If you don’t believe in it then you obviously are not doing anything.
So Eva – you don’t believe the Al Gore and Tom Brokaw hype that we can all make a difference by lowering our carbon footprint? They say that even turning your power strips off (even when all appliances are already off) helps. If they think that helps than Christmas lights and fireplaces would make a huge difference. Obviously not one person doing it, but if everyone who believed in it did that would make a difference
Helmut – why are you so hostile? Carbon footprint is a Brokaw and Gore buzz word – it’s not mine. I’m sure you have heard of abbreviating things – it’s not that hard to figure out. I don’t care if you don’t believe in it and are not doing anything about it anymore than I care if people who don’t believe in Jesus don’t prey to him. There would be no point. I’m only interested in people who believe in it and want to know what they are doing. Doesn’t seem to be too many believers around these parts.
