Wasn’t McCain the Senator of Arizona when they refused to recognize MLK as a holiday?

I believe that McCain was the Senator at the time when Arizona refused to recognize Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday as a National holiday.
In fact, they lost their 1st bid at a Super Bowl (later awarded AFTER they recognized MLK as a holiday) because of it.
Yet, people in here call Obama “racist”?
Hmmmm.
Thoughts?
Regarding “white” holidays: Every other holiday is a “white” holiday. Recognizing MLK’s contribution to America for ONE day shouldn’t be an issue.
