Tahini Raving Weirdo asked:
I am building a two-seater, electric catamaran, 21 ft. long, about 8 knots top speed, no sails, just two electric DC engines. I am aiming at a range of about 20 miles before it needs recharging, and my only recharging device will be a wind turbine. I’ve seen they do about 100 – 400 Watts when they are the marine type which usually attaches to sailboats; how long would it take for such a turbine to replenish energy in my boat, would anyone know? I’m hopeless with these things, but I still love doing them.
Thanks so much!
Patricia

ryseesdg asked: Wind Energy?
“950W of power at 45km.hr winds
Delivers 100 Kw / hours a month at an average wind speed of 5.4 m/s
Adjustable voltage (12/24/36/48V)”
Can someone please tell me what that means? And my question is would you be able to indefinitely power a small fridge, a TV and other things on that wind turbine which costs $3 000? I’m posting this many times because I’m not satisfied with the answers I already received. People are just not making it simple enough to comprehend. Its all spanish to me.

tabulator32 asked: I live in a subdivision and previously thought using wind power to generate electricity was reserved for people with more acreage.
I was watching “Living with Ed” on HGTV and I see where he has installed a small, cylindrical wind turbine on the side of his house and I wonder who makes it and where I can get one.
Does anyone know about “subdivision-safe” wind turbines?

Sam asked: What physics is related to it (secondary school – to early university level physics)? Also, how would a basic wind turbine be constructed and how would you go about testing the factors that affect the efficiency?

Wm asked:
I was discussing with an adversary of mine the possibility of this. I think it is possible over a period of time for a small wind generator to produce the same amount of energy that a gallon of gas will produce.
I saw a homemade wind turbine done with 50 gallon drums on Youtube. It was very practical and easy to build. My question is. What is the length of time that it would take to generate the same amount of energy from a gallon of gasoline?

Given the investment required in building a wind turbine, how long does it take for one to recoup the investment given the value of the energy it produces?

Bells asked: Me and friend are doing a project on wind power and we need to know what you would do if you use a wind turbine for electricity and there isn’t enough wind to spin the turbine. Need an answer ASAP!!
